Care Tips & Our Guarantee A. B. Herndon Rod Co. uses only the best hand selected Tonkin bamboo, finest components, proven glues, adhesives and finishes to create the perfect fly casting tool. Because of the care that goes into creating each split cane fly rod, all of our bamboo fly fishing rods are guaranteed against any defect for the life of the original owner. This however, does not include accidents or abuse. If you should ever need the fly rod repaired due to an accident (i.e. a tip is broken in a car door) we will repair or replace the broken section(s) for a nominal fee. (Please attempt to keep all broken pieces, guides, etc.) Below is a letter from a happy client who accidentally fell on his bamboo rod tip. He took the time and care to keep the rod tip from completely separating in two. With what he sent us, we were able to restore the tip without having to replace it. Bruce & Tara: As you know, I damaged one of my bamboo tips recently and was quite amazed at how quickly you repaired it. Thanks for the quick turnaround, but even more I appreciate immensely the beautiful craftsmanship utilized in the repair. Not only is the damaged bamboo not visually noticeable but, more importantly, it continues to cast beautifully, with that soft presentation that makes dry fly fishing so satisfying. Thanks again, Steve Niles, Fly Fisherman A fly rod care label is included on the rod storage tube. Please carefully follow the instructions on the label. It is especially important to let the rod dry completely before storing it in the tube, even when fly casting on your lawn. Also, the rod bag should never be put in the tube unless it is dry.
When assembling our bamboo fly fishing rods, be sure to line up the guides/witness marks before joining the ferrules. It is very important to never attempt to twist the rod sections once they are joined together. Each tip is marked so you can easily distinguish between them. Please rotate the use of the two tips to assure equal use and wear.
Always keep the ferrule plug(s) in place anytime the rod is apart. Be sure to keep both the male and female ferrules clean at all times. No lubrication should ever be necessary for the ferrules.
When disassembling the rod, never use the guides as leverage to pull the rod apart. By following these few simple instructions, you will add years of life and enjoyment to your bamboo fly rod!
